World Trade Organization trade talks and advancing the long stalled Doha Round negotiations will hinge on many meetings over the next month.
"I believe that the foremost challenge facing us over the next several weeks is to take this engagement and going deeper and wider into discussions," WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy said. "This will be a prelude for the give and takes that will be required to be in the final package."
Small group WTO meetings will continue through mid-November. Next month also has the G-20 Summit in Seoul, South Korea and the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders meeting in Japan.
"At which point I think we will need to evaluate again and take stock of where the process has got as well as the next steps," Lamy said.
