The clock is ticking on the wheat market — in more ways than one.
Farmers with parched fields in the southwest are expecting their first decent rains in a while, a storm that could dent some of the market's late winter rally potential. Overall, the pattern for the next two looks continues to cheat southern growers, but most other areas of the hard red winter wheat belt should do just fine.
Rains are needed because monthly crop ratings out last week show significant declines. Still, crops in most areas remain better than last year, especially in the key state of Kansas.
