The large majority of the country is expecting warm conditions for the rest of this week according to USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey. He says that the only areas that will be along the immediate Pacific Coast and across the Northern one-quarter of the United States, mainly across the Northern tier with the Canadian border.
"So for the majority of the major production areas including the Central and Southern Plains, much of the Midwest and all of the South we do expect warm conditions to continue into the weekend, and that should promote summer crop maturation that is already ahead of schedule anyway," Rippey said. "We do expect a quick shot of rain in the Midwest mid-week, but otherwise favorable harvest and field work weather."
Looking ahead in the 8-to-14 day outlook, Rippey says we should see a continuation of that mild weather pattern across most of the country.
"In terms of precipitation patterns we expect to see much of the rain confined to the Western Gulf Coast region and right along the Canadian border," Rippey said. "Otherwise we expect generally dry conditions from California to the Central and Southern High Plains and also across the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic States."
