Leaders and experts from about 15 major world economies are getting together this week in Washington to discuss climate change. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice opened the conference Thursday.
"It is our responsibility as global leaders to forge a new international consensus on how to address climate change," Rice said.
Agriculture Department Climate Change Director Bill Hohenstein says finding a consensus will be difficult but achievable, but doesn't think it will happen at this meeting.
"I think everyone recognizes that this is a complex problem and that it's not going to be solved in one meeting," Hohenstein says. "So I think the expectations are that this meeting will lay out a process that will move forward."
