Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced the appointments of advisors and staff members for his office on Monday.
"These individuals bring the Department a breadth of experience and expertise in issues that include agriculture, food safety, international relations, legislative affairs, environmental issues and civil rights," said Vilsack. "This team appreciates the many missions of the Department of Agriculture and I look forward to working with them to help realize the President's goals for a safe, sustainable and nutritious food supply and maintaining a vital and prosperous rural America."
Among the appointments are John Berge as White House Liaison to USDA; Lindsay Daschle-Confidential Assistant to the Secretary; Max Holtzman, Grant Leslie and David Lazarus as senior advisors. In the office of communications Bobby Gravitz has been named Director of Speechwriting and Research, Nayyera Haq is the press secretary and Chris Mather is a director.
