U.S. Beef Returning to China?

The U.S. ambassador to China met with the country's quarantine chief regarding U.S. beef.

After China's exports have come under fire for safety lapses, the U.S. wants China to resume importing U.S. beef.

Clark Randt, the U.S. ambassador to China, met with China's quarantine chief, Li Changjiang and sent him a letter regarding U.S. beef exports in China, the country's quarantine administration says.

The

U.S.

and other countries have blocked imports of several Chinese products due to safety concerns.

China

has yet to reopen its market to

U.S.

beef after a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy was discovered in the

U.S.

in late 2003.
