U.S. and South Korea Finally Meet on Beef

Officials from the U.S. and South Korea will finally meet on South Korea's rejection of U.S. beef shipments.

"These talks are set to take place, and we're pleased about that. It's a positive step toward normalized trade in beef," Steve Norton, spokesman for the U.S. Trade Representative, told Meatingplace.com.

South Korean media had reported - apparently falsely - that the two countries would meet, but Washington had not confirmed the reports. A Nationwide International News bulletin reports that a five-day "technical consultation" will occur this week near Seoul, and indicates that the U.S. requested the meeting.
