U.S. and Canadian Wheat Headed for Iraq

Iraq has bought more than 700,000 metric tons of hard red winter wheat from the United States for delivery in the 2007-08 marketing year. According to a trader familiar with the Grain Board of Iraq, they have also purchased 50,000 tons of wheat from Canada. The Grain Board of Iraq has been issuing tender each month for the purchase of wheat. Iraq is expected to import more than 3.8 million metric tons of hard wheat during this marketing year.
