Published: Apr 11, 2006

The 2006 release of Hybrid-Maize is now available. Hybrid-Maize is a user-friendly computer program that simulates the growth and yield of a corn crop grown under irrigation and dryland conditions based on daily weather data.

This software allows farmers, crop consultants, educators, or researchers to evaluate the impact of weather and management changes on crop performance or even make in-season management decisions.

Improvements in the 2006 version of Hybrid-Maize include:

  • WeatherAid: a utility for importing and managing weather data, including direct linkage to online data sources such as the climate center.
  • Batch run utility: run several fields or scenarios sequentially and compare the results.
  • Simplified data entry for initial soil moisture status.
  • Choice of units for displaying soil water content.
  • Display results for individual years in long-term mode.

Previous users of Hybrid-Maize can download a free upgrade package. For more information visit, www.hybridmaize.unl.edu or contact Haishun Yang at hyang2@unl.edu.
