Beginning Nov. 2, eligible voters can vote for their county Farm Service Agency committee. Agricultural producers in each county were nominated as candidates last summer. To be an eligible voter, producers must participate or cooperate with FSA programs.
FSA county committees consist of three to five members who meet monthly and operate within official regulations to carry out federal laws. About 8,000 committee members meet in more than 2,300 locations nationwide.
Eligible voters who do not receive a ballot in the mail this week can obtain a ballot at their local USDA Service Center. Ballots must be returned to the local FSA office by Dec. 3, 2007. New committee members will begin their three-year terms on Jan. 1, 2008.
