USDA's 2008 Agricultural Outlook Forum is being held Feb. 21-22 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Va. This year's forum will focus on "Energizing Rural America in the Global Marketplace."
"We are fortunate to have more than 130 speakers this year," says Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer. "We are bringing together agricultural leaders who have agreed to discuss the key issues, policy, and potential challenges surrounding energy and agriculture."
Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Conner will be the dinner speaker, presenting the speech "Farm Policy: USDA and Hill Perspectives."
"Conner led the Department's review of more than 4,000 comments from producers that were used to develop a sound policy direction for the future of American agriculture," says Schafer. "As the dinner speaker, Conner will share his astute viewpoints on the farm bill, which are widely recognized and well-respected."
