The pressure washers are silenced, the last bit of tire dressing has coated the last tire, and in the quiet of the morning, the Farm Progress Show site is readied for thousands of visitors who have traveled to be part of the Decatur, Ill., event.
This year's show features more than 450 exhibitors and 500-plus acres of field demonstrations where farmers can see equipment in action. But the news goes beyond new iron - which is always a big draw - to new technology farmers will see too. From the latest in autoguidance technology to new tools coming down the biotech pipeline, this is the show to see new technology first.
For business farmers, the show has evolved into a one-stop location to keep updated on the latest technology, and information, for your operation. The exhibitors on hand are from the companies that designed and built the equipment, and they can answer the tough questions. In addition, a wide range of equipment at this year's show will be making its debut for farmers; definitely a first-time opportunity.
The permanent biennial site on the north side of Decatur now features paved streets, which are new since the 2005 show. In addition, the site features enough creature comforts to help visitors enjoy the show.
