TAA Accepting Applications Beginning In August
USDA providing technical assistance and cash benefits to eligible farmers whose crops have been adversely affected by imports of like or directly competitive commodities.

U.S. agricultural producers seeking assistance under the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers program for fiscal year 2006 may apply to USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service from Aug. 15, 2006, to Jan. 31, 2007.
Under the TAA program, USDA provides technical assistance and cash benefits to eligible farmers and fishermen whose crops or catch have been adversely affected by imports of like or directly competitive commodities. After USDA certifies a petition for a particular group, eligible farmers or fishermen have 90 days to contact the Farm Service Agency to apply for assistance. General information about the TAA program can be found on FAS' Web site at www.fas.usda.gov/itp/taa/taa.asp.
Applicants must file petition form FAS-930, which is available on the Web at www.fas.usda.gov/itp/taa/resource.htm. FAS must receive the petition by 5 p.m., EST, Jan. 31, 2007. Petitioners can send their petitions by fax to (202) 720-0876; by e-mail to trade.adjustment@fas.usda.gov; or by mail to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Foreign Agricultural Service, Trade Adjustment Assistance Office, 1400 Independence Avenue S.W., Mail Stop 1021, Washington, D.C. 20250-1021. Use of fax or e-mail is preferred.
