Specialty Crop Assistance Deadline

Applications for 2010 are due Friday.

Published: May 29, 2009

Although regulation amendments to USDA's Technical Assistance for Specialty Crop program are set to take effect next month, another deadline related to TASC is Friday. Mark Slupek of the Foreign Agricultural Service says the 2010 TASC application period ends May 29, 2009.

Applications are taken against the deadline, however if all funds for a fiscal year are not given out then the application process is extended.

"The 2010 deadline is this Friday," Slupek said. "But the 2009 program is actually still open for a few more months because we have not given out all of the 2009 money."

The TASC program helps open, retain, and expand markets for U.S. specialty crops through monetary assistance. For more information about the Technical Assistance for Specialty Crop program, visit www.fas.usda.gov.
