Soybean Farmers Talk Biodiesel in D.C.
Members of the American Soybean Association spoke to lawmakers about farm bill and biodiesel concerns, while the United Soybean Board is encouraging farmers to use soy biodiesel around the farm.

The only thing that concerns soybean grower groups more than promoting soy biodiesel is the concern that legislators will overlook agriculture in distributing money this year.
American Soybean Association members went to Washington D.C. last week to talk about the issues they hold dear. The 2007 Farm Bill was the first order of business, followed by biodiesel.
Like the chairs of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees, ASA members are concerned that the 2007 Farm Bill will not be adequately funded. The group encourages producers to contact their legislators to ask for farm bill support.
The ASA also applauded the introduction of a bill last week that would extend the federal excise tax credit and income tax credit for biodiesel. Senator Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., and Norm Coleman, R-Minn., introduced the bill, which would renew the original biodiesel tax incentive created in 2004.
Meanwhile, the United Soybean Board and soybean checkoff are reminding farmers to consider using soy biodiesel in their farm equipment on National Biodiesel Day on March 18.
