South Korea rejected the idea that once beef trade resumes with the United States that it would accept bone-in beef products, particularly troubling for the lucrative beef rib market.
Talks Monday and Tuesday in Seoul included USDA's undersecretary Chuck Lambert and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry director-general Park Hyun-chool. Leaders left South Korea without an agreement.
Beef ribs composed nearly two-thirds of trade before South Korea closed its doors to U.S. beef. South Korea says bones are higher risk than meat.
