Senate Conferees Named for Financial Bill

The New York Times has reported that the Senate has named members to that financial reform conference committee. There were few surprises. Here's the list:

• Christopher Dodd, D - Conn.

• Richard Shelby, R-Ala.

• Tim Johnson, D-S.D.

• Jack Reed, D-R.I.

• Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.

• Bob Corker, R-Tenn.

• Michael Crapo, R-Idaho

• Judd Gregg, R-N.H.

Negotiators were also appointed including Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., chair of the Senate Ag Committee and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.; ranking Republican on the ag committee; and Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. and Tom Harkin, D - Iowa.

The ag committee is involved because its role in writing parts of the bill surrounding regulation of derivatives and because of its jurisdication over the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The House conferees are expected to be named after the Memorial Day recess.
