Committee meets in Omaha during recess.
Compiled by staff
Published: Aug 14, 2008

Congress is away from Capitol Hill this month on the annual August recess but the Senate Agriculture Committee will meet in Omaha next week. Chairman Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and member Ben Nelson, D- Neb., have announced a field hearing to explore the changing economic landscape for agriculture, including the role of renewable fuels and the potential for increased productivity of grains and advanced biofuels in the future.

Among those scheduled to testify are Dr. Bruce Babcock, director of the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development at Iowa State University, Iowa Pork Producers Association President Dave Moody, and National Renewable Energy Laboratory Biofuels Technology Manager Thomas Foust. The hearing will start at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18 at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
