Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., the chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, will hold her committee's first field hearing in her home state of Arkansas, on Monday, Nov. 23 at 1:00 p.m. The hearing will be hosted by the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service at the Great Hall of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock. Titled "Revitalizing Rural America" the hearing will examine ways to strengthen and grow Arkansas's rural economy.

Also, Lincoln is organizing a statewide Agriculture and Business Leadership Breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 24 to examine the impact of U.S. Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry policy on the state rural and small business economy. That event is scheduled from 8:00-10:00 a.m. at the Association of Arkansas Counties Board Room in Little Rock.

In making these announcements, Lincoln noted that when our nation faces difficult economic times, rural Americans are often the first to feel the impact and the last to recover. According to Lincoln this field hearing and leadership breakfast will give her an opportunity to hear firsthand from Arkansans on how to encourage economic development in rural communities by working together.
