Syngenta Crop Protection announces launch of Cruiser into a new market.

Published: Dec 23, 2004

The seed treatment Cruiser from Syngenta Crop Protection offers corn growers protection of their seed from secondary pests that eat into profits. Now the product can be used on soybeans too.

The company announced today that Cruiser will be launched for use on soybeans in the United States. The product provides protection against early-season insects and is said to boost crop vigor. Cruiser is already used on corn and cotton in the United States, soybeans in Brazil and canola in Canada. Syngenta notes in a press statement that in 2003 the global market for seed treatment was $1.2 billion.

Cruiser is a key product for Syngenta. Combined sales of the Cruiser and Actara product family rose by 32% to $219 million in the first nine months of 2004. Cruiser is now registered in 72 countries on more than 21 crops.

In addition to soybeans, Cruiser also received registration for use on potatoes, dry beans, dry peas and succulent peas in the U.S.
