See for Yourself Participants Chosen by USB

Group will explore checkoff here and abroad.

Published: Jun 2, 2009

The United Soybean Board and soybean checkoff have announced the ten soybean farmers who will take part in the second annual See for Yourself program this summer. The selected growers are from Wisconsin, New Jersey, Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania. The program is designed to give soybean farmers with little to no first-hand knowledge of USB a look at their checkoff in action.

The tour begins in St. Louis on July 13 and ends July 18 in Mexico. Participants will tour many facilities representing various end users of U.S. soy and be able to interact with USB leaders and give them feedback on the checkoff. Checkoff focus areas including biodiesel, new uses, animal ag and international marketing will be a main part of the tour.

Soybean farmer from Emmetsburg, Iowa and USB Audit and Evaluation Committee Chair Jim Stillman says checkoff members were satisfied with the first trip last year and are sure they'll be satisfied again this year.
