Second Round of Census Forms to be Mailed

The deadline to turn in Census of Agriculture forms was Feb. 4. According to National Agricultural Statistics Service Deputy Administrator Carol House some of the about 3.2 million recipients of census forms failed to return them. By law they must be completed, so a second round of mailings is being sent.

"We're going to continue to follow up with people who have not filled out their form throughout the spring," House says. "At the same time, starting to crunch the data that we do have. We will do the analysis and publish the results of the census in early February 2009."

Forms will be mailed directly to eligible producers. They can be submitted by mail or electronically. Questions or problems concerning the Census of Agriculture should be directed to 1-888-4-AG STAT.
