World trade negotiators are returning to Geneva, Switzerland next week in another attempt to work out an agreement for agriculture in the Doha Round of World Trade Organization global trade talks. U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab says U.S. negotiators go with the intent to reach a deal and seek a significant breakthrough that has eluded the group during the past seven years that this round of global trade talks have been going on. Schwab says she senses some momentum for an agreement.

"A sense that we are at a critical point in time, combined with the fact that we now have in front of us in Geneva, texts that make this a manageable process, with a finite number of outstanding issues," Schwab says. "I think it give one a sense of I'd say cautious optimism."
