On Monday the Russian Agriculture Ministry announced that 92% of planted grain area had been harvested with an output of 107.4 million metric tons of grain. That total is more than 23 million metric tons more than was harvested at this time a year ago and is substantially higher than the 95 million metric tons that the Agriculture Ministry had predicted.
Russia has harvested nearly 64 million metric tons of wheat, nearly 13 million metric tons more than last year. Barley harvest was also higher by over 7 million metric tons at 23.6 million.
