Rockefeller Pushing for EPA Vote

Senator John Rockefeller, D-W.Va., planned to meet Tuesday with Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to discuss a lame duck floor vote on a two-year freeze of the Environmental Protection Agency's climate change agenda. It's unclear whether there is time for the controversial bill during the end-of-year session already packed with contentious items. Rockefeller believes Reid will allow a vote.

Rockefeller has been pushing for much of the year to block EPA's climate change regulations for power plants, petroleum refiners and other major stationary sources. House Republicans, who assume the majority in the House next year, are expected to go even further than a two-year moratorium and push for a complete ban.

Still, Rockefeller said he wants to have the debate in December. However at this point it is not known if the lame-duck session will even be extended into December after next week's Thanksgiving break.
