Review of Soybean Rust

Asian soybean rust was found in 336 counties in the continental U.S. as well as Hawaii, Canada and Mexico in 2007. This is far and away the most widespread and numerous findings of the disease since it was first discovered in the U.S. in 2004.

The cases covered 19 states, with first time findings in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Indiana and northern Missouri. Soybean rust pushed farther north and west than in previous seasons, however most areas in the Midwest and plains regions discovered rust late enough in the season that it did not affect production.
