Put It Together This Year

Spreadsheet puts all the pieces together to enhance your budgeting
Compiled by staff
Published: Jan 14, 2011

Over the years we've featured some great spreadsheets that produce financial statements, reconcile loans, track marketing positions, analyze cropping options, calcu-late crop breakevens and much more. Yet, real life necessitates that these pieces work together to create a sound financial plan.

The University of Illinois recently released a spreadsheet package that does just that. It ties all the pieces together into one powerful tool for farm financial decision mak-ing and planning. It includes Illinois default data, but allows the inputs to be customized to your specific operation.

We’re featuring the spreadsheet as our Farm Futures Spreadsheet of the Month. The 1,541 kilobyte spreadsheet should work with Excel 2000, 2002, 2007 or Excel XP. You can get to the spreadsheet by clicking on Budgeting Tool.

Do you have a spreadsheet that’s made a difference on your operation that you’d be willing to share with other readers? Drop us a line at FarmFutures@farmprogress.com with a description of the spreadsheet. We’ll pay $75 if we feature your farmer-written non-commercial pro-gram as our Spreadsheet of the Month.

I am interested in this software. When I downloaded it my antivirus software gave me a "MALWARE" alert. I stopped at that point. Can you say if it is safe to ignore the Malware alert.
