There has been a lot of scrambling in Washington as leaders in both the Senate and House search for enough votes to pass health care reform. The public health insurance option seems to be the top challenge facing leaders on Capitol Hill.
In the House, some are saying the preferred version of a public option plan doesn't have enough support for passage. But others reject that view. After a Friday morning meeting, some negotiators went back to the bargaining table to work out a new plan. However, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., appears to be standing firm. A Pelosi spokesman says the House leader had not yet made a decision about the public option.
