President Visits Ag Expo in India

Expo is hosted by USAID, USDA and CII.

Published: Nov 9, 2010

While visiting India, President Obama visited several ag oriented exhibits at the Expo on Agriculture and Food Security in Mumbai. Impressed with Indian innovation in the agriculture sector, the President asked entrepreneurs to take their remarkable work around the world. The President tried his hands at stripping a corn cob using a small agro tool. The woman farmer who showed it to the President said it reduces woman labor by 30%.

The Agriculture and Food Security Expo is co-hosted by the U.S. Agency for International Development, USDA, and Confederation of Indian Industries.

A release from the White House states that India and the United States share a passion for and demonstrated leadership in agricultural research, technology, and education. Working together, they can discover and launch innovative solutions for tackling challenges that confront not just the United States and India, but in countries around the world.
