President of American Farmland Trust Stepping Down

Grossi announced he is retiring later this year.

Published: Feb 7, 2008

After nearly 23 years as president of the American Farmland Trust, Ralph Grossi has announced he will retire later this year after a replacement is found.

"The prospect of having to replace an individual with Ralph's capability and stature is challenging," says Jay Winthrop, Chairman of the AFT Board of Directors. "Ralph has been the voice of farm and ranch land protection for more than two decades. During that time the effort has grown from a couple programs to a nationwide movement with millions of acres of farm and ranch land permanently protected for future generations. In addition, Ralph helped AFT build bridges between agriculture and the environment, finding common ground and forming new coalitions."

The AFT Board of Directors has named a committee to conduct a national search for a new president of AFT. They have also retained Russell Reynolds Associates to manage the recruitment. Nominations and inquiries should be directed to aftsearch@russellreynolds.com.
