President Must Decide Course of Action on WRDA
Administration has said they may veto Water Resources Development Act.

After several attempts over a period of years, the Water Resources Development Act finally made its way through both houses of Congress earlier this year.
The upgrade and modernization of the lock and dam systems on the Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers is long overdue. Keeping our infrastructure strong is very important to allow our farmers to compete in the global marketplace. WRDA provides authorization for seven 1,200-foot locks on the Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers.
WRDA has been sent to the President for approval, which may not come. The Bush Administration has balked at the price tag of the final version of WRDA, and has signaled that President Bush will veto the legislation.
"Our hope is that the president will see the importance of lock modernization on the Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers," said National Corn Growers Association President Ron Litterer.
President Bush has 10 days to sign the bill, veto it or let it become law without his signature. If he does veto the bill there is a very good chance that Congress will override the veto. WRDA garnered more than 80 votes in the Senate and also passed the House by much more than the two-thirds needed to override a veto.
