Partial Countercyclical Payments Not an Option

The average market price for corn, grain sorghum and soybeans are above levels that would trigger USDA's direct and countercyclical program payments for 2007. USDA announced Tuesday that partial payments on those commodities would not be made.

In December, it was announced that wheat, barley and oat producers would not receive partial countercyclical payments due to high prices. Last month, upland cotton and peanut growers with acres enrolled in the Direct and Countercyclical Program would receive $300 million and $15 million respectively while rice would not receive partial payments.
