House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says Congress is in a four-way negotiation of what the omnibus spending bill will be, citing talks between Senate Democrats, Senate Republicans, House Democrats and House Republicans. There is no agreement on spending yet, but many are hopeful to reach one over the weekend.
"We would love to have it up on the Internet over the weekend and in the Rules Committee on Monday and on the floor on Tuesday," says Pelosi.
The Democratic leadership announced Wednesday that they would reduce spending in the omnibus bill to the $933 billion limit President Bush set, which has upped the chances of Congress and the White House coming to an agreement. The current continuing resolution for government funding is set to expire next Friday, Dec. 21.
