A non-profit organization that works to bring about voluntary improvement of privately owned grassland will receive the National Resource Conservation Agency's highest conservation award.
NRCS Chief Arlan Lancaster will present the 2007 Excellence in Conservation Award to the South Dakota Grassland Coalition. The award - the highest the agency gives to honor conservation advocates outside of the federal government - goes to only one group or individual annually, to recognize the voluntary contributions of non-governmental individuals, groups, and Tribes, through their conservation efforts in areas of technical assistance, programs delivery, technology transfer, outreach or communication.
The award will be presented at a public ceremony at the Rotunda in the State Capital building, Pierre, S.D., at 10:30 CDT on May 2.
