New Alliance Wants to Build Consumer Trust in Agriculture

Founding board and executive committee announced at NAFB Convention.

Twenty-three national farm and food organizations have formed an alliance to help today's U.S. food production system build consumer trust. The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance will also maintain and enhance the freedom of American farmers and ranchers to operate in an economic, sustainable and responsible manner.

Those groups came together to form the alliance at a meeting in St. Louis on Oct. 12 and agreed to form a long-term, coordinated campaign by uniting together to reach out and tell the true story of agriculture. The USFRA announced its formation and vision during a press conference Thursday at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City, Mo.

Others elected by their peers include the United Soybean Board's Phil Bradshaw as vice chairman; National Corn Growers Association's Bart Schott as secretary; National Pork Board's Dale Norton as treasurer; and United Egg Producer's Gene Gregory and National Cattlemen's Beef Association's Forrest Roberts as at-large members.
