The National Cattlemen's Beef Association passed various resolutions Saturday at the Cattle Industry Summer Conference to guide the association's policy efforts in Washington. Resolutions included an 18-point plan to secure the border along the international boundary; calling for full authority for federal, state and local agencies to secure the border; and federal and state animal identification programs allowing low-cost tagging devices paid by state or federal funds.
NCBA President Steve Foglesong says the out-of-control situation at the U.S. and Mexico border is one of the pressing issues facing NCBA members now. Foglesong says the resolutions passed are critical steps in guiding policy priorities in Washington.
More than 800 cattlemen and women attended the summer conference. Go to www.BeltwayBeef.com for more conference news.
