National Cattlemen's Beef Association CEO Resigns
Terry Stokes will leave the top spot effective Jan. 31, 2009 right after industry convention.

Terry Stokes announced Thursday that he will resign as the Chief Executive officer of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association following the 2009 Cattle Industry Convention on Jan. 31, 2009. Stokes joined NCBA as chief financial officer in 1996 and was named CEO in 2002.
"So much of Terry's work has been behind the scenes. He is not a 'look-at-me' kind of leader. So I'm not sure how many people realize what a difference he has made to NCBA and the beef industry," said Gary Voogt, NCBA president-elect. "NCBA deals with every issue the cattle industry faces, and Terry can speak to every single issue. He is amazingly adept at knowing what's going on and what needs to be done."
During his tenure with NCBA, Stokes has overseen the response to the discovery of BSE in the United States to maintain consumer confidence in U.S. beef, worked with the U.S. government to reopen foreign borders to U.S. beef and directed development of a strategic plan for NCBA.
"NCBA is a stronger association today because Terry has been at the helm," says NCBA President Andy Groseta. "He leaves it with a clear vision: to create a growing, profitable and sustainable beef industry. We will miss his leadership, commitment and passion both to the industry and NCBA."
NCBA will begin work on a search plan to find Stokes' replacement.
