On Thursday citing irresolvable conflicts with President Obama, Senator Judd Gregg, R-N.H., withdrew from consideration for the position of Secretary of Commerce.
"This was simply a bridge too far for me," Gregg said. "It became clear to me that it would be very different to serve in this Cabinet ... and be part of the team but not with the team."
Already two nominees have withdrawn from consideration for Commerce Secretary. Preceding Gregg was former New Mexican Governor Bill Richardson who withdrew because of a state investigation.
This is only the latest problem with the selection of the Cabinet. A new nominee is also being sought to head HHS following Tom Daschle's withdrawal, and a fight is expected to win confirmation of Rep. Hilda Solis, D-Calif., as Labor Secretary.
