More Positive Reaction for Change on Senate Ag Committee
Several agriculture groups have added their approval of Lincoln.

The National Farmers Union, the National Cotton Council, the American Soybean Association, the National Sorghum Producers and Growth Energy have voiced their support of Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln who now serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. Lincoln replaced Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, who moved to chair the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
"Senator Lincoln has been a steadfast advocate for America's family farmers, ranchers and rural communities," NFU President Roger Johnson said. "While we face many challenges, I am confident she will continue her efforts to preserve and protect the interests of rural America."
NCC Chairman Jay Hardwick says Lincoln has worked diligently on behalf of production agriculture, nutrition programs and conservation initiatives and will be an outstanding leader of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
NSP Chairman Toby Bostwick said he is looking forward to working with Senator Lincoln. "The National Sorghum Producers has had a positive working relationship with Senator Lincoln and her staff during past agriculture policy debates," Bostwick said. "We have found Senator Lincoln to be extremely responsive and attentive to the needs of sorghum producers nationwide."
ASA board member Ted Glaub, a soybean producer from Jonesboro, Ark., says Lincoln has been a champion of a strong rural economy; she really cares about the issues facing farmers, and has been an effective and tireless advocate.
Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis said his organization is eager to work with Chairman Lincoln. "I believe she knows how important an economic opportunity ethanol represents to rural America," Buis said. "We want to work with Chairman Lincoln to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, create green jobs in America, improve our environment and provide economic opportunity in rural America."
