Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say Karim Azizi, the Afghan teenager who was reported missing from his school group while attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, has been found in Canada. Azizi was first reported missing in October when he did not show up to take the bus back to the group's hotel. Police quickly realized the teen took about $1,000 and a cell phone and announced he may have run away.
Azizi is a foreign exchange student from Kabul, Afghanistan who was living in Ohio. At the time of his disappearance, U.S. State Department officials said if found, Azizi would be immediately returned to Afghanistan. However, since the teen fled to Canada, he may be eligible to seek political asylum and be granted resident status there.
