The Minneapolis Grain Exchange broke its monthly trading volume record Friday, with two more trading days left in April. Open interest in the spring wheat futures contract also climbed to the 11th highest in the exchange's history, and electronic trading for hard red spring wheat set a volume record as well, the exchange says.
On Friday, the hard red spring wheat contract had reached 163,792 at close, and open interest levels were at 58,083 versus 49,271 at the same point in 2006.
