Do-it-yourselfers, hobbiests and folks with light metalworking needs have a new tool available in Millers' Diversion 180, a multi-voltage AC/DC TIG welder aimed at first time TIG welders.

The Diversion connects to 115 VAC or 230 VAC with a quick change of plugs and no tools. The machine has two controls, one for selecting metal type and the other for heat input along with a digital interface that allows for more accurate adjustments to welding amperage. In addition, the Diversion features a foot pedal control that works in tandem with the fingertip control of the LS17 TIG torch to give the welder nearly infinite control of welding power.

The Diversion 180 weighs only 50 lbs. and will operate on a 25-amp circuit on single-phase 230 VAC at full power of 180 amps, or 150 amps at 20% duty cycle. The unit can weld material from .030 inches to 3/16-inch in a single pass with its 10- to 180-amp output.

Millers Diversion 180 is designed to put TIG welding within easy reach of first-users at an affordable price.
