On Friday Mexico signed a free trade agreement with the world's second largest economy, Japan. The treaty will provide zero tariff access to each other's markets for certain products.
Mexico wins "immediate preferential access to Japan for at least 22 farm products from unroasted coffee to wine, tobacco and eggs," according to a Reuters article. Asian consumes more than $60 billion worth of farm food products each year and imports about 60% of that amount.
Over 14 rounds of negotiations paid off for Mexico as some of Japan's more sensitive markets will be opened including pork, beef and chicken.
