It seems we can now pencil in Representative Frank Lucas, R-Okla., as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. The appointment will be made official on Nov. 29 when the House Republican Steering committee votes to make the change official. Meanwhile, in the Senate, Senator Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., is the front runner for the Chairmanship of the Senate Ag Committee.
Representative Joe Barton, R-Texas, says his reelection victory indicates that it's time to stop EPA's Lisa Jackson from imposing climate change regulations that are certain to cost Americans billions of dollars and millions of jobs. Barton believes greenhouse gases do not cause global warming and CO2 is not a pollutant.
No one wants to guess who will make up the House Ag Committee. Fifteen out of 28 Democrats lost reelections and will not return to the House Agriculture Committee. An additional California race is still undecided. Meanwhile, only one Republican on the committee lost a reelection bid.
