World Trade Organization Director-General Pascal Lamy is still holding out hope for completion of the Doha Round of world trade talks, urging member nations to keep looking for solutions to agricultural and industrial goods trade disagreements.
Speaking at the opening of Trade Negotiations Committee meetings Thursday, Lamy asked members to study draft texts released by the chairs of the Agriculture and NAMA groups and return in September from their summer break "ready to engage in intensive negotiations."
In the committee's last session, Lamy says, it agreed on a collective target: "full modalities in Agriculture and NAMA and commensurate progress in other areas of the negotiations in line with our mandate."
