Krone Powers Up Hay Harvest with New MAN Engines

Krone's new BiG M420 self-propelled windrower comes equipped with 400 horsepower from a new MAN engine for processing hay and forage crops in dense stands and on challenging terrain.
The BiG M 420 is Tier IVA compliant and uses selective catalyst reduction (SCR) technology to scrub the exhaust stream with AdBlue (Diesel Exhaust Fluid). The technology allows maximum fuel efficiency, particularly with the 420's automatic transmission controlling engine speed to match ground and load conditions.
With the new power plant comes a redesigned cooling system in the form of a larger radiator with a rotary screen and automatic cleaning capability.
Krone's new BiG M 420 self-propelled mower conditioners have new power train and feature improved operator comfort in the cab. The improvements to the power train are matched in the cab as Krone put roof posts on a diet and increased the amount of glass for better visibility. Noise levels and air-conditioning have been improved, too.
The new Krone-developed joystick has been customized to the BiG M and combines ergonomics with multi-functionality such as a cross control that raises all mowers at the same time on the headlands of hay meadows and then lowers them back into working position. The same control also operates the optional self-leveling feature on slopes.
Mergers are standard on the BiG M 420 as the Big Swath System transfers the conditioned hay crop from the conditioner to the middle of the machine without the material dropping on the ground where it could be contaminated.
