The stars lined up in corn's favor last week, but when all was said and done, prices finished the week on a bearish note. With the window for a seasonal rally starting to close in the short-term, the market could face a crucial test this week.
Inability to make new highs would confirm Friday's bearish chart reversals lower, pressuring futures toward the bottom of the three month trading range.
The key factor likely will be weather. After showers to start the week, a wet forecast for the next two weeks would ratchet up fears of planting delays. However, the outlook over the weekend appeared to be moving towards a drying trend that could convince traders the crop is likely to be planted more or less on time.
Even with a wet outlook, corn may need help from other markets.
