Information Campaign Begun by Growth Energy

Labeling campaign to launch at Farm Progress Show.
Compiled by staff
Published: Aug 31, 2009
General Wesley Clark, Co-Chairman of Growth Energy says the American people deserve to know more about the gasoline they purchase every day - where it comes from and where their hard-earned dollars ultimately go every time they fill up their cars and trucks. To provide that information, Growth Energy will launch a nationwide campaign to increase transparency in the fuel market and build consumer awareness.

General Clark says most Americans don't want their paychecks going to prop up regimes in
Venezuela or Saudi Arabia
. He adds that requiring country of origin labeling of our fuel supply will empower consumers with the knowledge and ability to make informed decisions.

The campaign will be formally introduced at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill. on Tuesday.

If Clark is involved, it's not going to be good for us. At least Venezuela and Saudi Arabia are competing for our business with a product we want. Our own government is trying to force us to use a more expensive product. I'm not against the new technologies, but the market should tell us to use it, not the government. You don't punish the old system to make the new stuff look better.
