In its February 22 Grain Market Report, the International Grains Council forecasts 624 million tons of world wheat production, up 3 million from last month's projection and 34 million from 2006.
While IGC says 2007-08 wheat plantings are down in China, suggesting a potential drop of 4 million tons from 2006-07, the agency projects gains in the U.S., Europe, South America, India and Australia.
