IAS Introduces a Wireless Blockage Monitor for Air Seeders

Device uses acoustic sensors to determine when seed flow stops and digitally alerts operator.

Intelligent Agricultural Solutions says its new Wireless Blockage Monitor can detect blockages anywhere in an air-seeder, by "listening" to the seed flow as it passes over a set of acoustical monitors.

Sound pulses generated on stainless steel membranes (much like a stethoscope) are converted to digital signals that show an alert on an Apple iPad in the tractor cab. The system uses  no wires that are responsible for many malfunctions on existing systems.

As a contrast to optical monitors, which only alert when a buildup occurs somewhere in the seeder's "circulatory system" and can be inaccurate because of dust and debris buildup on sensors, the IAS system provides a much more reliable "look" into the seeder.

IASs new wireless blockage monitor for air-seeding equipment "listens" for interruptions in seed flow and alerts an Apple iPad mounted in the cab of the tractor.

The IAS system is designed to be installed on a wide range of air seeders – current and past models – and will be available to producers this fall.
